Mosaic Floor Part One

The mosaic is taking a bit longer than I expected, but is totally worth the work. I'll hopefully be back in a few days with some finished pictures.

Thrifty

The thrifting gods seem to be on my side lately. Last week I found eight medium sized balls for garden mosaics and tons of marbles. I found two pieces of remnant fabric the exact size and color I needed for my new pillows, but the best deal I found is in these boxes.
I was tile shopping and came across the coolest tile in a showroom that was way out of my budget. The sales guy told me that they had a seconds room down the street. I went to check it out and found some excellent tile for one dollar a pound. I'm so excited about this, and about to start the biggest mosaic project I've ever done, and the first one with tile. If the sun stays out I'll hopefully get some pictures to document the progress. For now here is a picture I took at Multnomah Falls this morning. It was sunny and freezing but so beautiful covered in ice.

More Etsy Love and Random Stuff

So my plans for blogging got a little postponed, but I am keeping a list of the shops I still want to share. Lots of back to school illness came to our house this week, so needless to say this is what I saw most of the week.

I was able to finish the spoon orders and got them sent off. I am still in organizing mode in the studio, but feel like I am getting somewhere. I get this bug every January and feel like I need to clean, organize, and do home improvement projects. I started out in the basement with my workspace, but since I've had to be home this week, I spread out in the house and have been tackling closets and cabinets. This week the paint is coming out!

Here are a few more shops I wanted to share
John T. Unger Studio I love the waves of fire-fire pit, and the mosaic fish.
Discomedusa designs I wear my necklace that I bought from her at the PDX Etsy show every day.
Isabel Studio the mini art quilts are so cool.
Another favorite of mine is TQB designs her beaded beads are awesome!

I'll be back soon, maybe with some pictures. It's supposed to be sunny this week. Yeah!

Etsy

Last week my Etsy shop was featured on the Etsy Bloggers street team blog. They do such a nice job featuring a different shop every week. I've been thinking about how there are so many great sellers on Etsy that you don't always get chance to see. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites with you over the next few days.

A favorite (unbiased) of mine is Trillium Artisans. Their prices are great and they only sell work made from recycled materials.

Another favorite shop is JMN Pottery. The spikey heart is just too cool.

Matt and the boys actually found this seller-- LTCreates Jewelery. I was the lucky recipient of one of the spoon watches this Christmas, and I love it.

about midway through if you don't blink you can see my garden balls at the show in NY. Thanks Christine from Eye Pop Art (another one of my favorites) for passing it on.

The kids go back to school Monday. Although it's been a nice relaxing break, we are all ready to get back to our normal schedule. I've been slowly digging myself out from under the mess in my studio. I have a couple spoon orders to finish, and a new custom job that I can't wait to get started on, but have to. At least until I have one clean flat surface in there.

For now here are a few of the promised pictures from the trip....
The newest member of the family--Alexis born just the day before we arrived.
Patiently waiting to finish the family pictures.
Here are the boys really tired of me taking their pictures in the snow. We were lucky to be there for a big snowfall. Perfect for snowballs and snowman making. It made me wish I was a photographer. Everything was gorgeous.

Matt and I are off for a kid free anniversary. Yipee!! Have a great weekend.
