Behind the Scenes

The other day, my friend called me while I was grocery shopping with the kids. She asked me how I "get so much done". I told her I don't ever get as much done as I wish I could.......If only there was one more hour in the day.

I took a couple pictures today of how things really are around here.
This is Porter trying to sit as close to me as possible while I was trying to take a picture of a spoon mirror. I took this one while I was working on my Etsy shop with a sick little boy watching Pinocchio on my lap. I'm not complaining. I love all my boys, even when Porter can't be more than a few inches from me. I'm happy that I get to wish I was getting more done.
Have a good weekend everybody.

Treasury!

I've heard from other people how addicting Etsy can be, and I'm beginning to get it. I made my first treasury. Go take a look.

Check this out

I was so excited to find this video yesterday of a great way to re-use your plastic grocery bags. I am going to try it, I hope it works.

We got up really early this morning to walk in the Race for the Cure. It was great. The people, the energy, and the stories are inspiring.

The kids had tons of fun and want to go back next year.

Fall is definitely in the air. I had plans to get my workspace in order the first day of school. Tomorrow is the start of the third week. I am hoping this will be the week I get that done. I told myself I can't start another thing until the basement is done. We'll see how that goes.

In case you were wondering ......

what happens when your 3 1/2 year old and his 3 1/2 year old friend sneak into the back yard for a minute. I can tell you. They empty the bottle of bubbles into the pond, and tell you they weren't doing anything. The next morning when the pond is overflowing with bubbles they confess.

A different kind of crafting

I planned to post about all the crafty things I was getting done today. I got sidetracked for most of the afternoon looking for/at old pictures with Mitchel. So, I thought I would post one of my favorite pictures of my dad with Mason. Instead of crafting we made bread and chili, and lots of plans. We are even talking about a new puppy. It's strange to think about how different today is compared to 4 years ago. Maybe tomorrow I'll post about all the things I got done........maybe.

Pansy Fest

I set up the booth this morning for the Pansy Festival at Cornell Farm.
I didn't think it was going to happen..................
School started for both boys and a nasty cold took over our house. This is what our dining room looked like yesterday morning.

It took a couple of late nights and a (thankfully) quick recovery by Mitchel.

The show runs from this Saturday the 15th through the end of the month. Come check it out!

Back to School

Mason started second grade this morning (I can't believe I have a second grader) . He was very exited to go. I'm glad that school is back in session, but am already missing the relaxed summer mornings.
Despite having a crazy busy weekend filled with potlucks, birthday parties, late summer colds, and getting ready for school, I was able to squeeze in a little time for work. Last week I found a couple of glass treasures at the bin and am working on something new. I'm hoping to have them finished in time for the shows this week. The Cornell Farm show starts --I should have the show info to post on Thursday. On Saturday I'll be part of the Foster Art Walk. It will be between SE 53rd to SE 93rd, and runs from 10-6. I'll be setting up with some other Trillium Artisans, and a few sellers from PDX Etsy in front of the Trillium Store.
Have a great Monday. It's going to be a really hot one here.

6 Things

I've been tagged by Christine of Eye Pop Art, so now............................. 6 weird (some not that weird) things about me.

1. I met my husband in 7th grade when his family moved into the house across the street from mine. We started dating at the end of our sophomore year in high school.

2. I really like working on houses, especially old ones. My husband and I are living in and working on our 4th house since we've been married.

3. I love glass, stained glass, beads, all kinds of glass! I recently did a glass mosaic on 2 walls of my kitchen.

4. My mom and I are both cancer survivors. When my first son was 3 months old I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Shortly after my treatments, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shortly after that my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died 4 years ago this month.

5. My family all has names that start with M. We didn't plan it that way. We really liked the name Mason. When I was pregnant the second time around we weren't going to choose an M name, but at the last minute we changed our minds and Mitchel was born.

6. I am a thrift store addict. I would go everyday if I could.

Jess, you're it! I am supposed to tag 5 others, so if you would like to play along, let me know. Have a nice short week everybody. 6 days until school starts, woo hoo!!
